Rio 2016

Rio 2016

Rio 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro Brazil on Aug 5-21. There will be 35 competition venues mainly in Barra da tijuca, but also in three other zones: Copacabana, Deodoro, and Maracanã. It will be the first time a South American city will host the event.

Réveillon em Copacabana

Reveillon 2016

Brazil’s main New Year’s Eve event is held on Copacabana beach: millions of people attend the celebration, and many travel from thousands of miles away! But with good reason, of corse: the midnight display is regarded as one of the best in the world, created by colourful fireworks which are launched from barges docked out in the ocean.

Anima Mundi

The International Animation Festival of Brazil, ANIMA MUNDI, takes place in the two biggest Brazilian cities, Rio de Janeiro  and São Paulo, and travels through other Brazilian cities afterwards in its “on tour” version.

Maratona do Rio

Rio Marathon

The race starts at Praça do Pontal / Praia da Macumba, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes and finishes at Aterro do Flamengo, covering 42 kilometers. The Half Marathon (21 km) takes place at the same time, starting at Praia do Pepe in Barra da Tijuca.

Rio Fashion Week: Summer

Brazilian fashion’s official event in Rio, where important fashion names and brands show their summer collection.  In each edition, it is covered by about one thousand journalists from Brazil and overseas, who come to see the releases of the country’s main labels and most promising new talents.

On its first two editions, ArtRio reunited some of the most important galleries of Brazil and the world reaching over 120 thousand visitors. Besides supporting the national arts scene, the event consolidated Rio de Janeiro as one of the essential destinations on the international art calendar. The Rio de Janeiro International Contemporary Art Fair is fast becoming the biggest art fair in Latin America.

Rio Book Fair

One of Brazil’s most important literary events, the Rio de Janeiro International Book Fair is a not-to-be-missed occasion where books play starring roles. During the eleven days of this event, the Riocentro Convention Centre hosts a real festival of culture, literature and education.
